For best results, the Ear, Skin & Paw Repair Balm is designed to be used alongside the Healing Hippos No Rinse Cleanser. We do not recommend combining this product with homemade, store-bought, or alternative cleansers that have not been tested with our formula.

Recommended Usage

For "Flare-Ups", visual irritation, odour or debris present, etc.
Use once a day. Clean with the No Rinse Cleanser then apply the Repair Balm until improvement is seen. Then reduce to maintenance & Prevention Care frequency.

For Maintenance & Prevention Care
Use once a week to help maintain healthy skin, ears, and paws.

*Consistency is important for best results.

Directions 

Step 1 — Cleanse the Area First
Shake the No Rinse Cleanser well before each use. Generously dampen a cotton pad with the cleanser and gently clean the affected area (ears, skin, or paws).

• Do not soak the cotton pad
• Multiple pads may be needed depending on debris buildup
• Never pour liquid directly into your pet’s ears

This step is important because it removes the superficial bacteria/germs off the skin which then allows for the balm to penetrate into the skin. Allow the cleansed area to dry (approximately 30 seconds, before apply the Repair Balm).

Step 2 — Scoop the Balm
Using a small cosmetic spoon or clean applicator, scoop a small amount of balm from the jar. (The applicator helps reduce contamination after handling your pet’s ears, skin, or paws).

Warm the balm between your fingertips until soft and spreadable.

Step 2 — Apply a Thin Layer
Now, gently apply a thin layer of the Repair Balm to the affected area.

[Ears] Gently massage a small amount of balm around the opening of the ear and surrounding skin.  Move your finger further inside the ear, gently spreading the balm. (YES - the balm can be put directly inside your pet's ears using your thinnest finger. You cannot hit your dog's ear drum as it is a 90 degree angle to the eardrum).

If both ears are affected, treat both sides to help maintain overall ear hygiene.  Microbes such as yeast, can easily be transferred from one ear to the other, simply by the dog scratching their ears with their feet/paws.

 [Paws] Massage the balm into the paw pads, between the toes & surrounding dry areas.  Excellent after walks, snow, sand, rough terrain, or outdoor adventures.

[Skin] Apply a thin layer directly to dry or irritated areas using gentle circular motions.

After Application - Helpful Tips

Some pets dislike having their ears/paws touched and may scratch, rub, or chew the area afterward, which can cause additional irritation.

To help prevent this, consider:

• Using a cone
• Covering the area with pet clothing
• Offering a chew toy or playtime distraction
• Taking your pet for a walk
• Providing cuddles or calming attention

Distraction is recommended for approximately 30 minutes after cleaning and applying the Repair Balm.
